What is civility?

Civility means having respect for a person no matter who they are or what background they are from.

Civility means showing respect for every individual despite any differences you may encounter.

Civility means treating all people with the same respect, no matter what differences there may be between you.

Civility is the ability and willingness to empathize, to put oneself in another's shoes.

Civility is standing up for others and not letting discrimination go unopposed.

Civility is respecting others and their choices, even when they differ from you or your own. It's being understanding and being willing to learn about why others do what they do and make the decisions that they make. It's being able to learn and accept others for who they are and who we all are as a community, instead of highlighting our differences and letting them define or categorize us.

Civility to me means that we all accept everyone for who they really are. Don't treat others differently because they don't look the same as you. Don't shun people out because they act a little different. Civility means we have the self-respect and the dignity to accept everyone no matter who they are.
